After studying I worked as an assistant for 5 years, for some great photographers/Directors – David Bailey, James Dimmock and Sean Ellis. When I made the decision not to assist anymore, I found myself out of work. Needing to earn a living, I spent some years doing studio work and fashion shoots, always exploring my own work at the same time – spending those hard earned studio pounds on independent shoots all over the world.
I consider all my work to date to be a progression : assisting was a great opportunity to learn from some established artists; commercial photography taught me fluency; fashion photography has taught me aesthetic excess and restraint; my independent projects have informed and honed my direction. All this has brought me here, and now, with my lens, I explore the city I’ve lived in for most of my adult life.
In a country that ’s undergoing radical change I aim to capture the contradictions, the nuances, the ephemera of life in the UK.
